About Kristine Ballard:

Kristine Ballard’s work is driven by colour. Selective colour palettes and disintegrated shapes define the unique style she calls ‘Fragmatism’ where images float, dissolve and fragment across the canvas, and beauty is often camouflaged. Deconstructed shape and reconstructed colour is always the focus of her work.

Specialising in still life and landscape paintings, Ballard works at creating the atmospheric colour harmonies inspired by real life experiences.

She has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has completed art residencies at the world-renowned Art Students League of New York and also in Venice. In Australia, at Monsalvat and at the Mornington’s historic Police Point Residency.

She has an upcoming residency in France this July. Kristine’s artwork has also been licensed for fabric collections and art cards. She has a full schedule of art shows booked for 2023 featuring the Affordable Art Show and a solo show in October.

Kristine is also an experienced art facilitator, having run an Art School for twelve years and been the Arts presenter of EdTV Australia.

She creates and directs many art functions, workshops, art mentoring programs, and art retreats. She specialises in demystifying the art process and helping students develop their own unique style.

About Mark Wilson:

Mark Wilson is an Australian artist also known as Red or Redherring. He has been known under the name since High School, so when he started painting, it felt natural for him to use it as well — like a red herring, he wants his art to be a distraction.

Redherring’s work takes on today’s life, fusing abstract expressionism, colour and street art stencilling, creating imperfect postmodern pieces that reflect the beauty, chaos and politik of an imperfect modern world.

In 2021, he won the People’s Choice Award in the inaugural National Capital Art Prize and also at our MTAS 2022 Autumn Exhibition won best in show.

About Carol Gill:

Carol began her art career as a Graphic Designer spending her early years in advertising. Developing her art practise in this era meant the icons of the 70s-80s like Brett Whitely, Ken Done and Jenny Kee also heavily influenced her art.

In later years she rediscovered her art through further study and workshops where she was introduced to mixed media and collage by Judith White.

Carol uses a wide range of traditional Korean mulberry papers or “hanji”, tissue papers, water colours and gouache and loves the way they respond and react with one another.

She’s captivated by the textures and organic materials of the hanji papers and their relationship to the natural landscape from which they have been sourced. She enjoys bringing the beautifully delicate yet strong qualities of hanji to a very contemporary Australian theme.
