MTAS Monthly Members Meeting & Critique Night with Julie Simmons 7.30pm, 12th November 2024
We are delighted to have Julie Simmons back for our monthly members meeting on 12th November 2024, at 7:30 pm in the Stan Stevens Room, Deerubbin Centre, Windsor.
This will be a Critique Night with Julie, please bring along a painting or 2 that you would like feedback, possible ideas to solve any problems you may be having with composition, colours, techniques, etc.
A critique is always a valuable experience for all artists to grow & understand how others interpret your work.
Both members and non-members are welcome to join our meetings to view an inspirational artist at work each month, as well as the opportunity to enjoy networking with like-minded art enthusiasts.
Cost is $5 at the door. Supper is provided and please remember to park outside due to early car park closure.
About Julie Simmons:
Julie Simmons trained as a commercial artist (Graphic Artist) after finishing school. She then worked as a tracer and detail draftsperson for an engineering company, where she also created exploded view drawings for car manuals.
While raising her family, Julie completed two Diplomas in pottery at Penrith TAFE, which led to a successful 16-year career as a studio potter.
In 2004, Julie returned to painting, focusing mainly on watercolours. Always keen to experiment, she expanded her practice to include oils, acrylics, and mixed media.
Julie now spends much of her time travelling in her trusty campervan, ‘Clarice’, sketching and painting across the country. Her sketchbooks and studies are the foundation for her studio work.
She has received numerous awards throughout Australia, and her work has been acquired by various councils and private businesses.
Julie is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society, and her paintings can be viewed at:
This month, we are pleased to welcome Julie Simmons to our monthly meeting for Tuesday, 9th August, 7:30 pm at the Stans Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, George St, Windsor.
Julie will demonstrate ‘Watercolour on Canvas’.
Julie Simmons is well known in the Hawkesbury and afar for her brilliant skills as both a watercolourist and other mediums such as Oils and previously Pottery.
Having done very well with many wins and accolades, Julie has developed her own unique style, pushing the boundaries of the Watercolour medium to produce works full of light and depth of tone whilst maintaining the transparent quality of the medium.
We look forward to seeing this traditional medium now moving onto a reasonably new surface, being Canvas especially prepared for Watercolour.
Both Members and Non Members are welcome to join us for our meetings to view an inspirational artist at work each month, as well as the opportunity to enjoy networking with like-minded art enthusiasts.
Entry is $5 for MTAS members and visitors (includes supper)
Please remember to park outside as the carpark below locks early.
