Monthly Demonstration Meeting
with Joachim Lai – Watercolour
 7.30pm, 11th April 2023

We’re excited to have Joachim Lai for our April Monthly meeting!

The meeting is on Tuesday, 11th April, 7:30pm at the Stan Stevens Room, Deerubbin Center Windsor. Come along to see Joachim’s skillful work in action.

Joachim will be demonstrating watercolour for us. He will paint a half-sheet landscape with sky, distant mountains, middle ground, and foreground. If time permits, he might also do another painting for us.

Both members and non-members are welcome to join our meetings to view an inspirational artist at work each month, as well as the opportunity to enjoy networking with like-minded art enthusiasts.

Cost is $5 at the door. Supper is provided and please remember to park outside due to early car park closure.

About Joachim Lai:

Joachim Lai is trained as a High School geography teacher and retired in May 2007 after 17 years in a state high school. He completed an American correspondence Fine Art Painting Course from Famous Artists School.

His paintings were in acrylic medium from 1981 to 1987. However, he started painting seriously in watercolour in 1988. (To date he has sold more than 350 paintings).

Joachim has demonstrated his talent for watercolour painting extensively at 6 art societies around Sydney. He has also participated in group exhibitions at Windsor Attic Gallery 3 times.

He was also represented by Dural/ Old Northern Gallery from 1988 to 2008 and has held 3 solo exhibitions at a high school.

Joachim has seldom participated in art competitions but has won numerous awards including 3 First Prizes in art societies, and Highly Commended awards many times. He has also had one of his paintings published in the Australian Artist Magazine.

Acrylic Painting Workshop with Chris Seale 14th July

We have a full day Acrylic Painting Workshop 10am  – 3pm with Chris Seale on the 14th of July.

Come along and learn from Chris’s beautiful technique’s and clever tricks using Acrylics.

Chris has been winning awards for her work for many years now and is well known for her unique style, creativity and inspiration that she brings to the art world.

She is particularly known for her beautiful contemporary-impressionistic bush land and seascapes. Chris has many feature articles in the Australian and International Artist Magazines, and has been acclaimed for works in all mediums. Her work is well represented in many private and corporate collections around the globe.

Over the years, Chris has developed a myriad of unique techniques, had many solo and joint exhibitions; is privileged to have been frequently requested as artist in residence and has also presented numerous live demonstrations at various art events, including our own MTAS meetings.

Reminder: Print Making Workshop with Katherine Kennedy 5th May

Reminding everyone that we will have a full day Print Making Workshop 10am  – 3pm with Katherine Kennedy on the 5th of May.

In the morning session, Katherine will introduce the concept of social art whilst viewing ‘DPD’ as a case study and demo coffee plate making followed by participation in the creation of individualised plate tests.

The afternoon session will cover introduction to DPD Performance, set-design & creation and inking & printing workshop.

At the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to take away their coffee order print and ghost print, own test plate print and their socially interactive experiences of the day.

Monthly Demonstration Meeting 11th October – Jane Canfield – Oil Abstract Study

jane-canfield-mtas-demoThis month, we are pleased to welcome Jane Canfield to our monthly meeting for Tuesday, 11th October, 7:30 pm at the Stan Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, George St, Windsor.

Jane will demonstrate an ‘Oil Abstract Study’.

Previously a graphic designer and now following in her father Tony Canfield’s footsteps, Jane has painted professionally for 10 years.

Jane is well known through the Blue Mountains for her work in reduction, simplification and abstraction.

Monthly Meeting Demonstration 8th March – Kasey Sealy – Landscape in Oils

Kasey-sealy-profile-monthly-meeting-and-demo-mtasThis month, we are very pleased to welcome renowned painter Kasey Sealy to our monthly meeting for Tuesday, March the 8th, 7:30 pm at the Stans Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, George St, Windsor.

Kasey will be demonstrating a Landscape in Oils.

Born in Forbes in 1961, Kasey began painting at the age of 17 yrs in 1978, and has painted professionally since 1980.

Kasey has won numerous awards and has painted in many countries including UK, France, Venice, Italy and USA. Also running regular painting tours abroad you can paint along side the master when you travel with Kasey on these tours.

The Arts Society returns for 2016 with our first Monthly Meeting to be held on 9th February at 7:30 in the Stans Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, George St, Windsor.

We are very happy to welcome locally renowned Portrait artist Malcolm Robertson to our meeting.

Malcolm Robertson will be working in Portrait in Oils and doing a painting of a live model. He is well known in the Hawkesbury for his Portrait painting and drawing. He won best in Show at the Hawkesbury Show in 2014.
