We are delighted to have Mellissa Read Devine demonstrating Acrylic Painting – Hawkesbury Bushland on Tuesday, 13th October, 7:30pm at the Stan Stevens Studio in Windsor. Come along or join us online to see Mellissa’s beautiful signature style being demonstrated.

With Covidsafe practises in place this demo will have a limit of 25 attending so please make sure you register your attendance here:  info [@] mtas.com.au

About Mellissa Read Devine:

Mellissa has studied & practised printmaking and painting continuously for the past 21 years and is a recipient of many prizes and awards. Her artwork is part of many private and public collections around the world.

Living in rural Sydney overlooking the Hawkesbury River, Mellissa’s work ranges between vibrant interpretations of her local landscape to intricate wood & linocuts. Her combination of quirkiness and calm blend to create works with a strong spiritual base.

She is an Associate of the Royal Art Society of NSW, and also travels around the world to teach art enrichment workshops.

Monthly Demonstration Meeting, 11th August
Julianne Allcorn  – Pencil & Watercolour on Wood Panels

We are excited to welcome Julianne Allcorn demonstrating pencil and watercolour on birch wood panels. Tuesday, 11th August, 7:30pm at the Stan Stevens Studio in Windsor.

Come along to see this very beautiful and interesting medium being demonstrated.

This demonstration will be limited to 25 people including the committee. The committee meeting will be held in the Tebbutt Room at 5.45pm and demonstration will be in the Stan Stevens Studio from 7.30pm.

About Julianne:

Julianne Allcorn has been a practising artist and art teacher for over 20 years. Her works are mostly inspired by the flora and fauna around the Burralong Valley & Lower Hunter.

Julianne works on birch wood panels painting very detailed insects, birds, flora and fauna usually using pencil & watercolour. A highly accomplished  artist with works in many collections and has displayed in many group and solo exhibitions.

She has also been a finalist in the Gosford Art Prize & Ravenswood Art Prize, and won the People’s Choice Award at the Hunters Hill Art Prize in 2018.

Jeanette Starr – Mixed Media Birds & Animals

Come along to see Jeanette Starr, one of our recent people’s choice winners at our Spring Exhibition, demonstrating Mixed Media Birds & Animals at our next monthly meeting on Tuesday, 12th November, 7:30pm at the Stan Stevens.

Originally from Yorkshire England, Jeanette worked as a graphic artist/photographer before venturing to Australia in her 30’s to live on acreage.

Jeanette is well known for her love of horses and her beloved subjects are never too far away.

She loves painting all animals and portraits alike and is happy to do commissions.

Drawing and painting in various mediums but particularly oils, acrylics, inks and charcoal.

Jeanette works from her Little River Art Studios where she holds workshops and exhibitions. Also a member of the Hawkesbury Artists and Artisans Trail.

Often successfully winning awards at the Hawkesbury Show, MTAS exhibitions and other shows, we are looking forward to seeing Jeanette in action at our next demonstration.

Acrylic Painting Workshop with Chris Seale 14th July

We have a full day Acrylic Painting Workshop 10am  – 3pm with Chris Seale on the 14th of July.

Come along and learn from Chris’s beautiful technique’s and clever tricks using Acrylics.

Chris has been winning awards for her work for many years now and is well known for her unique style, creativity and inspiration that she brings to the art world.

She is particularly known for her beautiful contemporary-impressionistic bush land and seascapes. Chris has many feature articles in the Australian and International Artist Magazines, and has been acclaimed for works in all mediums. Her work is well represented in many private and corporate collections around the globe.

Over the years, Chris has developed a myriad of unique techniques, had many solo and joint exhibitions; is privileged to have been frequently requested as artist in residence and has also presented numerous live demonstrations at various art events, including our own MTAS meetings.

Monthly Meeting AGM & Guest Speaker David Briggs – Scientific Colour Theory – 12th September 7pm

In September, we have our Annual General Meeting followed by our guest speaker David Briggs to talk about Scientific Colour Theory.

This Meeting for September is on Tuesday 12th, 7pm at the Stans Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, George St, Windsor.

Our Art Society is run by volunteers and our dedicated committee has worked hard through the year to keep things going.

We are always in need of new people to help run the Society, and would love to see some more members helping out with the roles listed below.

If you or a friend or family member can assist please let us know. You do not need to be an artist yourself to fill these roles, but some interest in art and craft is welcomed.

We want our Arts Society to continue well into the future with many successful artistic endeavours to come, so please consider helping out!

And don’t forget we also need members present to vote!

All positions will be declared vacant on the night and anyone interested in taking on a position to help out the Society can email info [@] mtas.com.au or call Narelle on 02 4565 9222 for more information.

Scientific Colour Theory


David will discuss Scientific Colour Theory.

David teaches scientific colour theory at Julian Ashton’s Art School and the National Art school. He is the Chairperson of the NSW Division of the Colour Society of Australia and is internationally regarded as an expert on the matter.
