Monthly Demonstration Meeting 10th October – Jeanette Starr – Drawing in Charcoal and Ink

In October, we are very happy to have talented local artist Jeanette Starr demonstrating a drawing in Charcoal & Ink at our monthly meeting for Tuesday, 10th October, 7:30 pm at the Stans Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, George St, Windsor.

Originally from Yorkshire England, Jeanette worked as a graphic artist/photographer before venturing to Australia in her 30’s to live on acreage.

Jeanette is well known for her love of horses and her beloved subjects are never too far away.

She loves painting all animals and portraits alike and is happy to do commissions. Drawing and painting in various mediums but particularly oils, acrylics, inks and charcoal.

Jeanette works from her Little River Art Studios where she holds workshops and exhibitions. Also a member of the Hawkesbury Artists and Artisans Trail.

Often successfully winning awards at the Hawkesbury Show, MTAS exhibitions and other shows, we are pleased to see Jeanette in action at our next demonstration.

Hawkesbury Art Fair opening Friday 8th Sept to 8th Oct

Macquarie Towns Art Society has some entries in the Hawkesbury Art Fair at the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery.

You are invited from 6pm on Friday 8 September for the opening of fourth annual Hawkesbury Art Fair by Deputy Mayor of Hawkesbury, Clr Barry Calvert.

This once-a-year event is when the gallery becomes a showcase for the wealth of creativity  in our beautiful region. It’s also an opportunity for local artists to sell their work, and for you to buy original art from some of the region’s most accomplished and collectible artists.

Drinks and refreshments will be served (bar opens 6pm). Family-friendly function; children welcome.

Runs from 8th September to 8th October.

Monthly Demonstration Meeting 11th July- David Lake – Painting a Pastoral Scene in Oils

In July, we are pleased to welcome David Lake to our monthly meeting for Tuesday, 11th July, 7:30 pm at the Stans Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, George St, Windsor.

David will demonstrate ‘Painting a Pastoral Scene in Oils’.

David Lake is an oil painter of the Australian Landscape. He has been painting for more than thirty years, and on a fulltime basis since 2002. Originally from Sydney he now resides in the small town of Newbridge in the NSW central tablelands.

A self-taught artist David has developed his own distinctive style that has been winning him awards and commendations since 1991, including the Combined Art Societies of Sydney – Artist of the Year for 2007, 2008, and 2009.

David is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales. He is also a member of the Oatley 101 Society of Artists, and a participant on the Bathurst Arts Trail.

Reminder: Monthly Demonstration Meeting 9th August – Julie Simmons – Watercolour on Canvas

julie-simmons-fine-art-artist-profileThis month, we are pleased to welcome Julie Simmons to our monthly meeting for Tuesday, 9th August, 7:30 pm at the Stans Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre, George St, Windsor.

Julie will demonstrate ‘Watercolour on Canvas’.

Julie Simmons is well known in the Hawkesbury and afar for her brilliant skills as both a watercolourist and other mediums such as Oils and previously Pottery.

Having done very well with many wins and accolades, Julie has developed her own unique style, pushing the boundaries of the Watercolour medium to produce works full of light and depth of tone whilst maintaining the transparent quality of the medium.

We look forward to seeing this traditional medium now moving onto a reasonably new surface, being Canvas especially prepared for Watercolour.
