For 5-15yr olds. Limit of 10 students per workshop.

Our next Art Group will be on Wednesday, 3rd April from 10am to 4pm at the Horse Judges Hut, Hawkesbury Showground, Clarendon.

Come enjoy the company of fellow art enthusiasts, and bring a project, art, craft, or any hobby.

Members and guests are welcome. Please bring your own food. We supply tea and coffee.

Our next Art Group dates will be on 17th April, 1st & 15th May 2024.

To get to the Horse Judges Hut at the Hawkesbury Showground you can enter by Gate 4 (the carpark gate) and drive in taking the 3rd road on the right to take you to the far side of the show ring. The hut is a separate building on the right with some gravel parking. It has a shady verandah with chairs and nearby toilets.

Inside there is air conditioning, fridge, sink, kettle, microwave, tables and chairs.
The HDAA are kindly allowing us to attend for $2 per person.

MTAS Members and Non Members are welcome.

MTAS Monthly Demo Meeting – Digital Art with Darren Gallagher, 9th April 2024

Monthly Demonstration Meeting
with Darren Gallagher – Digital Art
 7.30pm, 9th April 2024

We are looking forward to having Darren Gallagher for our monthly meeting on Tuesday, 9th April, 7:30pm at the Stan Stevens Room, Deerubbin Center Windsor.

In his demonstration, Darren will showcase his techniques in creating digital art.

Both members and non-members are welcome to join our meetings to view an inspirational artist at work each month, as well as the opportunity to enjoy networking with like-minded art enthusiasts.

Cost is $5 at the door. Supper is provided and please remember to park outside due to early car park closure.

About Darren Gallagher:

Darren Gallagher is a full time artist living in the Hawkesbury. He was the founder and primary writer at Knife in Texas Publications which specialises in a diverse range of content including comic books, graphic novels, fiction, and non-fiction titles.

Following a successful career as an Indonesian interpreter in the Royal Australian Navy; Darren built a solid portfolio as a field journalist for numerous lifestyle magazines and dabbled in both Commericials, Television Series and Feature film work along with being a modern jive dance teacher for over ten years.

In 2013 Darren foundered KIT COMICS. With a primary focus on targeting the archipelago and their love of comics therein. 11 years on, Darren has attended Comic Conventions around the globe including Dubai, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa and the United States. Darren holds a full membership with the Australian Cartoonists Association.

His commitment to exclusivity is how he attributes maintaining the line between artist and graphic designer. Showcasing his love for hand drawn artwork as he brings the organic flavour of that to a commercial, digital customer base worldwide.

Royal Easter Show 2024 Competition Schedule

Join in with the event as a celebration of Australian culture. It provides an amazing and unique experience for everyone. The Sydney Royal Easterwas first held in 1823 and is an iconic celebration of Australian culture. It has been recognised for its significant economic and social contributions to NSW.

Revenues generated at the Show are invested in agricultural programs, competitions, education, youth, and community development in NSW.

Entries are closing very soon for some of the pavilion sections for the Hawkesbury Show 2024.

The annual show runs from 19th -21st April 2024, with the Open & Open Junior Art, Photography and all Craft sections closing on Tuesday, 2nd April 2024 at 4.00pm.

For those who are planning to submit artwork, please ensure that your entries have been placed by this time online. You can also place paper entries via email or at the showground office. The office is open on Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

MTAS Volunteers Needed for Duty

Hi MTAS Members,

MTAS are the stewards each year for the Art Pavilion and we need volunteers from our Society to do duty. We need people to fill the roster on the following days please:

Friday, 19th April – we need 2 people for each shift:
9am – 1pm  
1pm – 5pm 
5pm – 9pm

Saturday, 20th April – we need 2 people for each shift:
9am – 1pm  
1pm – 5pm 
5pm – 9pm

Sunday, 21st April – we need 2 people for each shift:
9am – 1pm 
1pm – 5pm

Those who fill the duty positions will receive one free entry ticket on that date of the show.

Suzy will showcase cold wax & oil techniques in her demonstration.

About Suzy Strout:

Suzy Strout is a Sydney-based artist who, for over 37 years, was responsible for overseeing the manufacture of costumes, wigs, shoes & makeup for 18 major musicals in Australia and across the southern hemisphere.

Suzy also designed costumes for the Australian productions of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap and A Murder Is Announced, and the two recent productions of Mamma Mia – Australian Tour.

Suzy’s art practice is now her focus. She took part in her first group exhibition in 2016 and her first solo exhibition in 2020, and regularly exhibits with Drummoyne Art Society and in her local Inner West area.

Suzy’s art emphasises the textures and shapes in nature and her style uses a range of mediums from pen & wash, acrylic, and more recently oil and cold wax medium.
