Todd Whisson Plein Air Oil Painting Workshop 18th July 2021

Todd Whisson Plein Air Oil Painting Workshop
Sunday, 18th July 2021

We are excited to have a full day Plein Air Workshop with Todd Whisson on Sunday 18th July, 10am – 4pm.

We are looking forward to experiencing Todd’s artistic talent with workshops that are designed specifically to encourage artists to explore and ‘express loose spontaneous’ mark making with their own work.

Todd will guide and demonstrate throughout the workshop his unique approach on:

  • How to simplify subjects
  • Expertise in palette knife & large scrapers
  • Colour harmony

Attendees will build confidence and learn to take risks by experimenting with:

  • larger tools
  • expressing colour and edges
  • simplifying landscapes
  • creating trees with incredible colour
  • vibrant reflective water

Workshop Overview

There will be two Plein Air paintings completed during this workshop, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Todd will demonstrate first, explaining how to paint using his unique palette knife and scraper style, and then the class will paint. Whilst the class is painting Todd will come around to everyone offering feedback and guidance.

Attendees will be able to choose their subject, composition or paint the same subject as Todd.

The palette knife and scrapers will challenge artists to think differently on how to approach a subject but can expect to see a fresh looseness to their work.
