Combined Art Societies of Sydney (CASS) ‘Online’ Summer Sale Exhibition Entry Forms Available
The entry forms for the Combined Art Societies of Sydney (CASS) ‘Online’ Summer Sale Exhibition is now available. The exhibit will be from 1st December 2023 until 31st January 2024.
This sale is for CASS Artists only and the site is password protected.
Artists can enter paintings of any age, medium, or subject – framed or unframed, or on a stretched canvas complete with a hanging cord, or works on paper with or without a matt board. Artists can enter up to 6 paintings.
Before you fill in the Entry Form, please make sure that you have the size, weight, medium, and prices of each entry as you will be asked to provide these.
The Sale Price limit will be $300.00 as an incentive for buyers to purchase a Christmas gift, as all work submitted will be valued at well over the sale price.

About David Lake:
David’s art career began in high school with an enthusiasm for both drawing and subsequently painting and was encouraged by his parents.
He worked initially with watercolours and painted birds and animals. However, it was the oil paints that held his attention, and that’s when he made the transition to painting landscapes.
David has been painting for more than thirty years, and on a full-time basis since 2002. Originally from Sydney, he now resides in the small town of Newbridge in the NSW central tablelands.
He has developed his own distinctive style that has won him awards and commendations since 1991, including the Combined Art Societies of Sydney – Artist of the Year for 2007, 2008, and 2009.
His paintings can be found in private and municipal collections in Australia and private collections overseas, including the UK, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, and the USA.
David is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales. He is also a member of the Oatley 101 Society of Artists and a participant on the Bathurst Arts Trail.

Combined Art Societies of Sydney (CASS) ‘Art in the Country’ Workshops September – October 2023
Reminding all that the Combined Art Societies of Sydney (CASS) will be holding a new workshop event this year in October.
The workshops will be a smaller event to their Art in Action. It will be called ‘ART IN THE COUNTRY’, and will take place in the small town of Kandos on the edge of the spectacular Capertee Valley, 1 hour from Lithgow.
Here are the dates for the workshops: 30th Sept – 2nd Oct 2023 7th – 9th Oct 2023 14th – 16th Oct 2023
The classes will take place in the Kandos Community Hall on the main street of Kandos. Some classes will be plein air classes meeting at the Hall and then going to a location of the Tutors choice to paint.
Students will be required to find their own accommodation, to their own tastes and budget.

Rae Woolnough Felting Workshop Sunday, 4th June 2023 10am – 4pm
We have a few spaces left in our Full Day Felting Workshop with Rae Woolnough on this Sunday, 4th June 2023 from 10am – 4pm.
Introduction to Felting
For members and guests with little or no experience in felting. If you have some experience in felting you can come along and have some fun too.
This workshop will cover making felted balls, geodes, ropes/cords, and simple flowers that can easily be turned into jewellery or decorations of many kinds.
We will also make pieces of flat felt that can be used in many applications such as soft furnishings, (cushions, place mats, throws, etc.), book/tablet covers, jewellery, etc.
Techniques will include using resists and adding a multitude of surface designs and embellishments. Participants will learn how to join, cut, shape, and manipulate felt while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the felting process.

All participants are asked to bring the following 1. Couple of old towels 2. Length of bubble wrap approx.800mm long x 600mm wide. 3. Small pair of scissors (embroidery scissors are best) 4. Bowl/ small bucket for water (re-cycled ice cream buckets or large Yoghurt containers are great) 5. Optional: paper and pen for taking notes (some basic printed notes are provided)
Rae will provide a kit for $20 with the materials required for the workshop.
Workshop Kit includes: Cost: $20.00 pp (items can be sold separately if required) – 100 grams of merino wool roving in complimentary colours ($10.00) – 0.25 metres of coloured merino pre-felt ($5.00) – Embellishments – silk material, silk fibre and other embellishments ($3.00) – Pipe Cleaners and floristry wires ($1.00) – Decorative ribbon ($1.00) – Re-cycles various resist material (No Cost) – Soap Solution (No Cost) – Use of dry felting needle and felting pad (No Cost) – not included in kit price but, can be purchased separately for $3.00 extra
About Rae Woolnough:
Rae Woolnough is a Textile Artist who specialises in the medium of felt.
Rae’s love of art and textiles has been a lifelong interest, from sewing her first garment at eight years of age to designing and making her own wedding dress, there has always been a connection with textiles and design.
She prefers working with natural products such as fine merino wool, alpaca, and silk and is on a constant quest to find beautiful and unique yarns to use as embellishments in her artworks.
Rae has exhibited her work through solo and group exhibitions in galleries throughout Australia. Her artworks are held in collections throughout Australia and Internationally.
