Vale Dr Mary Bergin

It is with great sadness we acknowledge the passing on Monday afternoon of our dear patron Dr Mary Bergin from leukemia. Mary has been a wonderful support for our Society for many years and a well respected member of our local community. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Alan, family and friends.

NOTICE: MTAS Gallery at Musson Lane Update

MTAS Gallery at Musson Lane Update

As you know, our MTAS Gallery at Musson Lane, which was open every Saturday, is currently closed until further notice due to the COVID 19 restrictions. The planned April 18th changeover will not happen.

Art and craft currently on display can remain until Saturday July 4th .

The fees that you have paid will cover you until then. (Hopefully the world will have returned to normal by then.)

If anyone would prefer to collect their art or craft prior to that, please contact a key holder – Sheila ph 0408161284 or Patty Bakarich 0415200446 (or other Committee member) to arrange a time when we can meet you to open up the building and mark the works off on the list.

Meanwhile your work will be safe, secure (and dusted) until we can open to the public again, when we will again ask for people to help on the Roster.

We are also looking at taking photographs of the works and posting them onto our site, Facebook and Instragram accounts to keep MTAS active as best we can during this time. We are looking at watermarking the artists work so that will cover any copyright issues. Stay tuned!

Keep safe and well everyone and stay creative.

Thank you,
MTAS Committee

NOTICE: MTAS Response to COVID-19

Dear Members,

No doubt you are all aware of the rapidly changing response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a consequence of the stronger message from the Government and the Department of Health in trying to contain the spread of the disease, the committee have, sadly, decided to cancel upcoming events in the interests of your well-being and that of our community.

Wednesday Open Days at Musson Lane will not be scheduled after this week until further notice. The Saturday Gallery, which we had just started to get going, will be closed, effective from today until further notice. Our demonstrations for April and May are cancelled, although we have been fortunate to re-book Taryn Malzard for the July meeting – hopefully the world will have righted itself sufficiently by then!

The Children’s After School classes will not be held from next week and the Easter School Holiday Workshops are cancelled. Life Drawing and Portrait groups are cancelled for April.

Saddest perhaps of all we are cancelling our Autumn exhibition. We will instead make the Spring Affair exhibition a members award event.

I’m very sorry that we are taking this route but the committee feel a duty of care that demands these measures in the interests of yourselves and the community. We will try and keep the online presence active and interesting. If you have any contributions to make – stories, pictures of the work you would otherwise have entered into the Autumn exhibition, send them in to info [@] mtas.com.au

We will monitor the situation and advice of any further changes.

Keep safe and well.

Thank you,

Kym Morris (President) and the MTAS committee.

NOTICE: CANCELLED Monthly Meeting Tomorrow, 11th February

Hi All,

Due to weather conditions with rain, flooding, bridge closures and power outages in our Hawkesbury region and across Sydney, we will be cancelling the MTAS Demonstration Meeting for 11th Feb tomorrow.

We hope all are staying safe and to see you at our next monthly meeting on 10th March.

We will reschedule for artist Julieanne Allcorn to come at a later meeting in the year so that we don’t miss seeing her interesting and beautiful works.

Thanks everyone,

MTAS Committee

CASS Art of Sydney Volunteer needed

Hello MTAS Members,

Happy New Year for 2020. We hope that you are all safe and doing ok in the extreme conditions we have going on at the moment.

As you know we have the CASS Art of Sydney Exhibition coming up at the end of the month. Those who entered need to deliver this Friday 10th January to Richmond Art Supplies between 9.30am – 5.30pm.

Volunteer Needed: We also need another person with a car to help drive the paintings down to Bankstown this Saturday 11th Jan, 9am from Richmond Art Supplies for the delivery and selection day. This person will need to help load paintings into their car and then drive to Bankstown. Then stay to help lift and move paintings into their sections for the selection process. The day usually goes until around 4-5pm.

Please consider helping, especially if you have works in this show. MTAS member representatives so far are Deidre Morrison and Pat Latta. We may also have David Livingstone helping but we need another with a car please. The person does not have to necessarily be a member of MTAS to assist if any member knows of someone willing to help and could also attend with a member (partner, family member or friend).

Please contact Kym Morris on 0413 809 685 or reply to this email info [@] mtas.com.au

Thanks very much,
MTAS Committee
